How does it work?
Your child begins with a tryout session to see if the group is a good fit for them. If this goes well, we’ll offer them a place for a whole block. If they’ve found it difficult to concentrate but are still keen to join, we’ll ask them to do a second tryout session. If it’s still hard for them concentrate and fully participate, we’ll invite them to try again when they’re a bit older. This way we maintain a good balance of both inclusivity and development for all kids in the group. Once your child is in the group, they are guaranteed a place in the following blocks as long as they want to continue or until they reach the age limit.
What to expect?
A group for kids to build creative expression and self-esteem using theatre techniques like improvisation, vocal and physical warm ups, acting games, learning text and working with props. Each block of sessions ends with an informal show for family and friends.
These sessions are equally great both for kids who have a real interest in doing theatre and performance, or kids who want to become more confident in themselves and working together with others. Most sessions are lead by two teachers, ensuring plenty of support and guidance. We do our best to encourage each child in a fun and relaxed manner and address their individual needs. Shyness or level of experience is not a problem, we have a great track record supporting kids to become more self-assured. However concentration, commitment and the interest to work together with the rest of the group is necessary. Kids who are easily distracted may find the group is not the right match for them at this stage in their life.
Since everything’s done in English, it’s important your child speaks and understands well enough to feel comfortable.
We’re committed to being as inclusive as possible. Classes are LGBT+ family friendly and celebrate all nationalities and cultural backgrounds. If your child is (or may be) neurodivergent, please contact us so that we can help you decide if the classes are suitable for them. Unfortunately our studio is currently not accessible for wheelchair users or others who cannot use stairs. Together with other members of our building, we are working on finding a long term solution for this.
There are limited places in each block, so once it’s begun it’s only possible for new kids to join the group if it’s not yet full.
*We offer a price reduction if you have a 2nd child (sibling) joining and for families with a very low income (bijstandsniveau). Please contact us if you have a reduced price request.
